AS chairman of the famous Accrington Carnival 2001 committee, I would like to express my gratitude to the people of Hyndburn who turned out in force to make it a successful day. £10,500 was raised for good causes in our area.
The organisation is not easy and involves many people. My colleagues and I would like to thank the many Lions from other clubs, as well as members of the rugby club.
Thanks must also go to Hyndburn Council, the headmaster and governors of Peel Park School, the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and our many sponsors.
Finally, our thanks to Lancashire Police, and PC Gary Makin in particular, for the extremely smooth running of the procession through Accrington. In all our years of involvement, I don't think that it has ever run as smoothly.
RAY PULLINGER (Carnival 2001 committee chairman, Accrington Lions), Blackburn Road, Oswaldtwistle.
