PLAINLY Craig Edgworthy (Letters, June 29) missed the point of my remarks on not voting. There is nothing to choose from any of the political parties, none of them care what the people of the country 'want.'

As for Mr Edgeworthy's comments about schools and hospitals, who does he believe administers the funding for them in our country? He also has missed my point on this subject, which was that the continuous influx of immigrants and so-called asylum seekers adds an increasing strain on services already stretched.

If we live in such a prosperous country, as Mr Edgeworthy would like us to believe, why is it that our health service and police forces are so badly underfunded?

Why is it that our navy's ships and submarines remain in dock because they cannot afford the diesel to go out on manoeuvres? Why are our soldiers sent into conflict areas with rifles and radios that don't work properly? Why is it that there is very little that we can actually call British in the area of industry because company after company is sold abroad and then closed down? Why is it that the country borrows millions each year?
