THE DEVASTATED family of Iain Jones have paid tribute to their 'wonderful' son and brother, and issued a plea to anyone with information relating to Iain's death to contact the police.
Iain's mum, Diane and dad, Leslie, 22-year-old sister, Pippa and 18-year-old brother, Neil, are shattered by their sudden and tragic loss.
They prepared the following statement;
'Iain was an intelligent, lively and ambitious 20-year-old who was due to return to the University of Manchester in September to complete a Masters degree in Chemistry. He had a wide circle of friends both at university and home, many of whom had been close to Iain from the age of four when they all started school together.
Iain loved all sport but especially Liverpool football club. He went to all the matches, even if it meant travelling from university to the Liverpool ground and back again late at night to get ready for university the next day. In short he loved his life and loved the people in his life.
He was the most wonderful son, brother and friend that anyone could have had. When he was killed on Sunday all our lives were destroyed - not just Iain's.
We need help from anyone with information relating to Iain's death and would ask them to contact the police, so that Iain's body can be released to us for burial.'
