MAGISTRATES from Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre have been given guidance on protecting the public from dangerous criminals and sex offenders.
The speakers at a meeting last week were the Chief Constable of Lancashire, Pauline Clare, and the National Probation Service's Lancashire chief officer, John Crawforth.
They explained how the police and probation service were, together, taking the key statutory role of leading the multi-agency action in assessing how to manage the risk posed by sex offenders and other dangerous offenders when they are released back into the community.
Deputy Clerk to the Justices, Trevor Wilson, commented: "We were pleased to hear the county's police and probation chiefs giving us the latest insight and perspective on an issue of crucial importance to the criminal justice system, and for the communities we serve."
