POLICE are investigating a break-in at the home of an 84-year- old man who disturbed a burglar in the bedroom of his Atherton home.
Despite being disturbed, the intruder stole a Dyson vacuum valued at £250.
The thief was white, about 40, and 6ft 3in tall.
Police Insp Bill Dyke said: "This is another example of the lengths these people will go to get their hands on other people's property.
"This is a vulnerable member of society, supposedly in the security of his own home. Fortunately, he has suffered no ill effects, but things could have been a lot worse.
"Who is this coward who has to steal from elderly members of our society?
Has anyone tried to sell you a Dyson vacuum recently? Please give us a call at Leigh CID on 0161 856 7352, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
