l BARNABY bear is back in town after a year of world-wide travels. The travelling teddy returned to St John's School on Kirkhall Lane, Leigh, last week with many a tale to tell. Barnaby has been the constant companion of Allan Singleton, managing director, and Ralph Lowery, commercial director of Waterlink Sutcliffe Carbons of Ashton-in-Makerfield. Year two-pupils have received postcards from Europe, South Africa, America, Australia, Barbados, Hong Kong and Thailand. The three travellers returned to the school to take part in a question-and-answer session. They brought the children gift bags containing Barnaby bear goodies including a pen, bookmark and notepad. The company also presented the school with a £100 cheque, which it will use to purchase additional geography resources.
