AN enchanting exhibition of art produced by talented junior school children captivated visitors to Leigh's Derby Rooms.
On Tuesday, the mayor and mayoress, Coun John and Norah Hilton, officially opened the breath-taking collection of young ideas in pictures and words.
Leigh Education Action Zone project director Gareth Williams and former Bedford High art teacher Bryan Edmondson, who worked closely with the schools involved, told guests at the opening ceremony how the aim to raise standards in teaching and learning activities had been an eye opener.
A rich vein of talent had been revealed and, Mr Edmondson said, it was satisfying to know youngsters were still enthusiastic.
Youngsters representing the participating schools were Michael Jones and Natalie Unsworth (Bickershaw CE), Adam Davidson and Richard Haynes (Christ Church, Pennington), Stephen Doxey and Gemma Unsworth (Hindley Green CP), Cherry Fletcher and Martin Gariney (Newton Westpark) and Gabrielle Anderson and Matthew Brennan (Bedford St Thomas's).
