By Lesley Richards ROYAL Navy officer Stuart Parry sailed through his law degree.
He was called to the bar - then changed course to train as a chartered accountant.
Still all at sea, he opted for a further career swop, this time with the armed forces.
Mr Parry, 25, of Atherton, has successfully completed the initial phase of officer training at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Devon.
The former Hesketh Fletcher High pupil, who hopes to become a supply officer, joined the navy in March last year.
After graduating with a law degree from Sheffield Hallam University in 1997, he was successfully called to The Bar of England and Wales the next year.
He then started training as a chartered accountant before opting for a career in the Royal Navy.
The naval college course has been hectic, including leadership training and academic studies.
But Mr Parry has spent two months at sea aboard the frigate HMS Cornwall as the ship completed a round-the-world deployment.
Time on board provided him with an excellent introduction to all aspects of life at sea and the various departments of a fully operational warship while taking him to Tokyo, Honolulu and San Diego.
Sub-Lt Parry has now joined the destroyer, HMS Glasgow, for fleet training, prior to further professional courses. ON COURSE:
Sub-Lt Stuart Parry
