POLICE used CS spray to restrain a man who leapt from his bedroom window to confront five officers.
Police had been called to Philip Bond's house in Samuel Street, Hindsford, following a domestic dispute between Bond and his girlfriend, Pamela Holding.
Bond, 38, appeared at Bolton Crown Court to be sentenced for affray and two assaults, but an agreement between his barrister and the prosecution saw him admit to a lesser charge of a public order offence.
The assault charges were left to lie on file.
The court heard Bond was unhappy about his girlfriend going to a party at a neighbour's house.
He went to work but came home drunk afterwards, snatched a book from his girlfriend and tore it up.
He kept her captive in the house for a short time but later she managed to call the police. When they arrived, Bond leapt from a bedroom window on to the roof of a caravan to confront the officers.
He was verbally abusive and aggressive, and all five of the police officers had to restrain Bond, who was kicking out at them.
The court heard Bond has a long criminal record, with many convictions for assault, as well as criminal damage and various breaches of court orders.
The court was told Bond had a troubled childhood and drank excessively but had reduced his alcohol consumption and realised he needed help.
Recorder David Fish QC said he was giving Bond a last chance by making him attend the rigorous Think First programme as part of a two-year Community Rehabilitation Order.
