A BROAD Oak woman was fined £100 with £40 costs for keeping refuse in her backyard after being found guilty at St Helens Magistrates Court for failing to comply with the requirements of an Abatement Notice.
The defendant, who did not attend court, was prosecuted by St Helens Council under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 section 80. The notice required the rear yard to be kept free of refuse - the area had previously been cleared before this legal action was initiated.
