A WOMAN from Billinge is appealing to local people to support her as she takes a legal challenge to Europe.
Patricia Briody from Larch Close in Billinge has won a court case following an incident when she was given a hysterectomy at Whiston Hospital without her consent during child birth when she was just 19 years old.
But in spite of the victory last week at the High Court in London, Patricia, has not been awarded damages because the final amount of £90,000 was less than if she had agreed to an out-of-court settlement.
And now Patricia hopes that a satisfactory agreement will be reached in the European Court of Justice under the new Human Rights Act and is currently collecting signatures for a petition which will be presented to the court.
More in next week's Star.
