SEVEN of Bury's Breakfast and After School Clubs have celebrated their first birthday.
The groups were established with £110,000 obtained by Bury Council through the Government's New Opportunities Fund, backed by the Lottery Commission.
The seven clubs are: Guardian Angels RC Primary, Bury; Higher Lane Infants, Whitefield; Tiger Club, based at Cams Lane Primary, Radcliffe; St Mary's RC Primary, Radcliffe; Radcliffe Hall CE/Methodist Primary, Radcliffe; Casey's Crew based at St Mark's CE Primary, Bury; St Bernadette's RC Primary, Whitefield.
There are now around 40 such clubs in the borough, where youngsters relax, play with friends and take part in educational options.
Councillor Steve Perkins, executive member for lifelong learning, said: "These seven clubs accommodate 250 children and they are only a small number of the total now operating around the borough. Not only do they offer an interesting and often educational alternative for pupils, but they also provide peace of mind for parents and carers. We wish the clubs congratulations on their first birthday and I am sure that they will enjoy many more."
