POLICE are warning Cliviger residents to be vigilant after four houses and two cars were broken into over the past week.
Police were today preparing to put out patrols in the area but have also asked for residents to write down any information on any unfamiliar vehicles or people. Sergeant Nick Hodgson, of Burnley Police, said that they believed the same people or person were responsible for each crime, although they did not yet know if it was an individual or a group.
"We appealing for for the public to be alert and responsible," said Sergeant Hodgson.
"They should remove items from vehicles at night and lock all the windows before they go to bed.
"We want people to be vigilant and report any sightings of people to us immediately
"We intend to carry out observations in the coming week but if people could write down descriptions of anybody they don't know and their vehicles it would help."
Anybody with information should phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or Burnley Police on 01282 425001.
