AUDITIONS for a production of The Diary of Anne Frank will be held in Todmorden on Sunday.

Todmorden Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society's performance of the story of a Jewish teenager who recorded life in hiding from the Gestapo in an Amsterdam warehouse attic during the Second World War will be staged in November.

Auditions in the form of an informal read-through will take place in the Hippodrome Foyer on Sunday at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome, even those not wanting to audition, to listen to the script.

Director Andrew Rawlinson said: "There are some wonderful characters in the play, from young Anne, around 14 years, her older sister Margot, Mr and Mrs Frank, Mr and Mrs Van Daan, their son Peter, Mr Kraler and Mr Dussel.

"This is going to be the first full-length production performed in the Hippodrome studio environment and the confined surroundings will add to the atmosphere of the play."
