WHILE in West Sussex recently, I discovered in Boxgrove Priory church yard a military-type grave of the 1939/45 war of 3385266 Corporal E T Roberts of the East Lancashire Regiment.
Why was a member of a northern regiment buried so far south? Was he a casualty of the Dunkirk evacuation which was a couple of months previous to his death in 1940?
Perhaps his family or relations do not know the whereabouts of his final resting place. If so, I would be only too pleased to pass on information.
