THE Red Army faithful at The Royal Hotel in Waterfoot have set themselves a challenge -- to devise a song for Phil Neville.
At the Manchester United Supporters Club Rossendale Branch meeting at the Royal 'El Presidente' as he is known to his pals, Crawshawbooth resident Phil Neville told the fans how he longs for a place in United folklore by having a song dedicated to him.
And after much brainstorming, helped along with more than the odd pint of beer, the club decided to honour Phil by creating their own song for him.
The winner will receive a suitable prize and at matches the 'Rossy Reds' will encourage other fans to pay homage to Phil's efforts by loudly chanting the song.
Entries must be submitted to the club by August 30.
The success of the club's first social has prompted a quiz night to be arranged fro July 20 at 8pm.
It will be at the club's headquarters -- The Royal -- and members and non-members are welcome to enter teams of up to four, at least one must be a branch member.
Questions will be on general knowledge, entrance is £5 and a cash prize is on offer.
To become a member of the affiliated branch members must also join Manchester United.
The fees for the football club at £18 adults and £12 juniors and for the local branch £5 seniors, £2 concessions and £1 juniors.
