ANOTHER crime-busting project has been completed in Chorley -- helping to make elderly residents safer in their homes.
The Charnock Richard Community Safety Scheme involved 30 bungalows in the Chorley Lane, Leeson Avenue and Willow Drive areas.
The £100,000 project encouraged residents to establish their own Neighbourhood Watch, provided them with approved uPVC windows and doors, better security lighting and fencing. Householders have also been made aware of the dangers that unexpected callers bring.
The scheme comes a little over a year after former Home Secretary Jack Straw came to Chorley to see for himself the town's very first crime busting partnership in action.
The project has brought together local residents, Lancashire Police, Neighbourhood Watch and Chorley Borough Council, with support from MP Lindsay Hoyle.
