WRITING before the Warrington game, I am becoming concerned about Saints taking the field without a recognized goal kicker.

No one can deny that Ian Millward has done, and is doing, a great job under difficult circumstances. However, I think he is making a huge mistake, if he thinks that Saints are going to get by relying on Paul Sculthorpe or even Tommy Martyn.

In the last two games, there is no doubt we would have won both with a recognized kicker.

Where do we acquire this goal kicker? The answer is right here at Knowsley Road, or should I say Moss Lane, where he has been kicking goals for fun. The player I am referring to is John Braddish, who in his last game scored four tries and kicked ten goals. With all due respect to our regular wing pairing, I am certain we would not be losing a great deal if we played Braddish on the wing, for his goal kicking alone.

There's one thing for sure, Mr Millward, if you don't try something we ain't going to win anything, and for goodness sake, what's the point in having a reserve side if you do not give players in it a chance to come through to the first team?
