I'VE kept an eye on the Citizen letters pages to see if the two independent members of the Police Authority would respond to concerns expressed about their account of the police actions on the night of the Warehouse raid. I wrote two weeks ago asking if they could explain why their version of events differed hugely from the eyewitness accounts made by innocent members of the public who were there on the night.
It appears the Police Authority, a publicly accountable body with the remit to monitor policing in the area, has chosen anonymity and silence. It's a shame because openness on this issue would help put a lot of people's minds at rest and help restore confidence in the local constabulary.

I find it odd too that the authorities are often quick to criticise correspondents who wish to remain anonymous but it appears to be okay in this case - Ed.
