ST HELENS CC 1st XI game against Southport on Saturday was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Also due to a fractured main sewer the game between St Helens 2nd XI and Colwyn Bay on Saturday had to be postponed. This will be re-arranged for a Sunday later on in the season.
However, on Sunday, the St Helens 3rd XI played Leigh at home. They won the toss and asked Leigh to bat.
The home bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals and eventually bowled Leigh out for 83 in 44 overs with Luke Booth (4-10) , Mike Kenny (3-30) and Robert Supria (2-8) the pick of the attack.
In their reply St Helens were set to reach the total in 26 overs and with one ball remainingtheir total stood at 83-6. However, the home batsman was run out going for the single needed to leave them pn 83-7 with the match drawn. Karl Boardman (20) and Simon Watmough (16 n.o) top scored.
On Saturday, July 14 St Helens 1st XI play Liverpool at home and the 2nd XI play Northop Hall away. Sunday, July 15 sees the 2nds entertain Ormskirk in the quarter-final of the Chester Cup.
