WORKERS at a local food and drink manufacturer are celebrating after receiving a prestigious award from the British Safety Council.
Nichols Foods of Penny Lane, Haydock were presented with the National Safety Award, underlining their commitment to providing a real contribution to the health and well-being of the workforce.
Alistair Fyffe, quality assurance manager at Nicols Foods, said: "This is a real testament to Nichols' continued drive to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all our employees, and everyone in the company is both thrilled and proud to have received this recognition for our achievement".
Nichols Foods is one of only about 1,000 winners from large and small enterprises all over the country in the public and private sectors and faced a tough test in order to satisfy the independent awards panel.
PETER Cole, chairman of the board of governors of the British Safety Council (centre), presents a National Safety Award to Kathleen Mathias and Peter Pimblett of Nichols Foods Ltd. at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
