A PHOTO album with pictures dating back more than half a century has been uncovered in a Darwen alley way.
The black and blue patterned treasure was found by youngsters playing at the back of Clarence Street, in Hollins Grove, Darwen, at the end of last week.
It contains pictures of places such as Bury Fold Print Shop, the Fleece Inn, at Kendal in 1949, and wedding and honeymoon pictures dated March 1944.
Neighbours thought the book belonged to a nearby resident but hopes of this were quashed when the lady said it was not hers and it was brought in to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph Darwen office, in Bridge Street.
Paul Sanderson, who made the journey with the book, said: "Some children who were playing in the street handed it in to their parents who thought a photo of a lady in it was my next door neighbour.
"I called in to see her but she said it wasn't hers.
"Some of the photos are very old and must have meant a lot to somebody. It looks like a treasured possession that obviously needs returning to its rightful owner. "
