AFTER agreeing to the re-naming of Station Road, Broadley, to Broadley Avenue because of confusion over the number of "Station" street names in Rossendale, councillors decided to re-name part of Pennine Road, Bacup, to Station Court.
Originally Hillside Grove was the name chosen but residents asked for it to be changed to Station Court.
Coun John Pilling told the full council: "It is rather absurd when earlier in the same resolution we have changed the name of one Station Road because of the confusion. "It is odd that we then want to introduce a road with Station in its name."
Coun David Hancock said the residents were given the opportunity to re-naming part of Pennine Road and chose Station Court to give it a link with the nearby fire station.
Engineering and planning committee chairman Coun Christopher Wadsworth said: "I have no strong views on the matter. There are several other Station names in Rossendale but if this is what residents want, I will take it."
