THERE promises to be high tension and top quality arrows when the Star Individual Darts Championship reaches its finale at Chapel End Labour Club, Billinge on Sunday evening.

Eight players have fought their way through the final - Andrew Rodger, Colin Young, Ali Thompson, Michael Holt, Peter Turton, Steve Comber, Gary Welding and Doug Smith - and they will be battling for the prize money £500 for the winner, £250 for the runner up, £75 for the beaten semi-finalists and £25 each for the defeated quarter finalists.

Aside from the main trophy, the players will be aiming to add to their prize money by aiming for the least dart finish and highest check out awards.

Currently sharing the honours for least dart finish are George McCormick and Michael Holt with 14. If that is not reduced on Sunday, they will share the £50 prize money donated by JBR Plastics of Rainford.

Last year's winner Steve Jones, who was knocked out in the second round, may not leave empty handed. He is still ahead with the highest checkout of 120, and if that is not bettered on finals night will walk away with £50 courtesy of Milton's Jewellers.
