PRESCOT & Odyssey 1st XI took on Liverpool NALGO at Burrows Lane on Saturday and although the start was delayed by rain, with both teams needing the points, every effort was made to get the game played.
NALGO won the toss and elected to bat, eventually declaring on 157-6, a sporting total aimed at producing a result either way.
The P&O attack of Hayhurst, McComb, Dagnall and Cartmel all picked up wickets.
In reply, the P&O batting was positive and also benefitted from some poor fielding.
Opener Nigel Pearl played well for his 25, skipper Oughterson continued his rich vein of form with 65 not out and vice-captain Barrie Keeble also weighed in with a lucky 25 after being dropped a number of times as victory came with just two overs to spare.

The 2nd XI game was washed out an hour before play was due to start, but the 3rd XI gained a valuable win at Tranmere Victoria.
Tranmere batting first could only muster 99 runs, the pick of the bowling being a five-wicket haul by Colin West.
In reply, a 30-run opening stand by McVey senior and junior provided a good foundation and 31 apiece by Chris O'Hara and Charlie Ford ensured a convincing and pleasing win.
This week the 1st XI travel to Prestatyn, the 2nds entertain the Welshmen and the 3rd XI visit Wirral/Mersey Park.
The club's annual sportsmans dinner, featuring former Nottingham Forest footballer John McGovern, will be held on Friday, Octiber 5. Tickets are available via e-mail from dinnertickets@prescotandodysseycricketclub.org.uk
