AS the foot and mouth disease outbreak seems to be lasting longer than the previous one in the 1960s, there is obviously something different in the way the current epidemic is being managed.
Why are the slaughtered animals not being covered with lime immediately? That would deter free-ranging animals and rodents from scavenging the meat and thereby passing on the disease to other farms.
