CENTRAL PIER was rocking to all the great anthems when the Legends took to the stage at the Central Pier Showbar.

And this year -- which marks the show's third season in Blackpool -- new "star" Lionel Ritchie (Hamilton Browne) joined the line-up alongside Neil Diamond (Gary Ryan), Rod Stewart(Jack Danson), Barbra Streisand (Laine Kennedy) and ABBA (Laine Kennedy and Danielle Winter), belting out all the old favourites with obvious enjoyment.

Some of the stars were so uncannily like their famous alter egos that they made it easy to suspend disbelief and enter into the spirit of the show.

It didn't seem to matter that we were at the end of a windswept Blackpool pier and not at the Hollywood Bowl on a balmy California night.

And for the audience, who packed the showbar, it was just as good as the real thing, with great costumes and choreography adding to the illusion.

The strange thing about a show like Legends where all the acts are megastars is that there is no single top of the bill star. But the strong Scots presence in the audience went wild for Jack Danson's take on Rod Stewart and made him unofficial headliner for the night.

Every one of the performers gave their all to make it a highly entertaining show. And you can't ask more from a night out than that.
