THIS really is a super summer show, with lots of laughs for mum and dad and up-to-date pop music and excitement for the kids.

The first half was a show in itself. Talented comedian Billy Pearce had the audience laughing like drains with his endearingly daft comedy in the vein of Tommy Cooper.

And fellow performer Keith Harris's newly found cult status with students seems to have imbued him with a refreshing ability to take the rise out of himself.

And little green Orville's humour has become a shade more blue -- making the laughs more adult and the act very entertaining.

Together Keith and Billy gel as if they have been working alongside each other for years -- their dual act had the audience in stitches.

Praise must also go to the lively and lovely Brian Rogers Dancers, who gave the show more than a touch of modern glamour.

The second half is given over entirely to bill-topper Joe Longthorne. He managed to turn in an impressive performance on Friday. He hasn't lost any of his original vocal talent, executing classic impressions of Shirley Bassey, Tommy Cooper, Barry Manilow, the Bee Gees, Elvis and many more with amazing precision.

Sadly, his banter between songs lacked clarity and coherence, and got even harder to follow as the evening wore on.

As soon as he heard the music his performance was awe-inspiring, but he would have done better to keep the talking to a minimum.

Even so, this is definitely a must-see for fun-loving locals and holiday-makers alike.

The Joe Longthorne Show, Blackpool Grand Theatre, daily (except Sundays) until October 27.
