A RADCLIFFE woman was stabbed in the back when she fought off three robbers.
The plucky 20-year-old suffered a small cut during a scuffle with the armed trio who demanded cash from her boyfriend.
The woman was taken to Bury General Hospital for treatment and allowed to return home.
The stabbing happened at 11.30pm on Monday (July 8) when the victim and her partner were walking through Bury Interchange after a night out in the town.
They were approached by three Asians teenagers who produced a small knife and demanded that the boyfriend hand over his wallet.
According to police the woman tackled the thieves and grappled with the knifeman, wrestling him to the floor. The trio, believed to be aged around 18, fled empty handed.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood said: "When the girl got up she had a small cut on her back. It is not known whether the injury was caused by the knife during her struggle with the thieves."
CCTV footage is now being viewed by police in a bid to identify the three offenders.
Anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery and subsequent fight should contact Bury CID on 856 8150 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
