BURY'S bin service is "wheelie good" since the Bank Holiday blues were banished.
Town hall bosses say residents have welcomed a new routine to empty bins between Tuesday and Friday.
The changes mean that householders whose "bin day" fell on a Monday public holiday no longer have to wait a week.
Councillors say that the new, free, bookable service to remove six items of bulky domestic waste has also been a success.
Councillor Julie Higson, executive member for the environment, said: "I know that thousands of people appreciated the fact that there was no backlog after the bank holidays in May and, thanks to the new system, that will be the same in August.
"We also urge people to continue to take advantage of the kerbside waste paper collection, which is helping to boost tremendously the amount of recycling taking place in the borough."
Anyone with inquiries about the refuse or waste collection service should call 253 5353.
The council says the service could be improved is people follow these tips:
make sure the bin is out by 7am on collection day, but don't block access for collection vehicles.
don't put bricks, paint, oil or hazardous waste in the bin, although grass and hedge cuttings are fine.
do not pack the bin too tightly, and do not leave boxes or bags of rubbish by or on top of the bin as they will not be removed.
