REVELLERS are being sought by police to shed light on a serious assault in Prestwich which left a couple requiring hospital treatment.
A 28-year-old woman was discovered lying unconscious and bleeding outside the Heaton Park Inn on Bury Old Road, shortly before midnight on Saturday (July 9).
A customer flagged down a passing police patrol and the officers gave first aid to the victim, whose face was covered in blood.
A large crowd of between 20 and 30 people had gathered outside the pub.
Police were then alerted to a 25-year-old Salford man who was also covered in blood.
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood of Bury Operational Police Unit said: "At this present time we do not have any information as to the cause of the couple's injuries.
"They could have been caused as a result of a fight between themselves or by a third party. We could do with some help from anyone who was at the pub on Saturday night."
The couple were taken to the North Manchester General Hospital. The woman received four stitches to deep gash at the back of her head and three butterfly stitches to a wound on her chin.
The man was treated for minor cuts and bruising.
Both were kept in overnight for observations.
Anyone who can help police with their inquiries should contact Whitefield CID on 0161 856 8248 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
