A NELSON employee has sacrificed his distinctive red locks to raise money for a charity for brain injured children.
Mark Bingham, stores manager at Sovereign Windows, Vale Street, was sponsored by his colleagues and Sovereign Direct to go temporarily bald in aid of the Rescue Foundation, which works towards the prevention and treatment of brain damage in infants.
The challenge was just one of many fundraising events undertaken by employees at Sovereign for needy causes.
The 28-year-old, who chose Rescue because it is the charity that his local, the Burnley League Club, is supporting for the year.
He said: " David Slater, who works at Sovereign and behind the bar at the club, agreed to cut my hair but he only cut half of it off at first. I went walking round the club for about half an hour collecting money before he shaved the other half off. It feels horrible.
"I think we will have raised well over £500 but a lot of people are on holiday now so the difficult bit is trying to collect it all in."
