The Lancashire Youth Games is an annually held competition between all the local authorities from across the county.

This year four sports were chosen to fall in line with a national Sport England initiative called Active Sports: rugby union, cricket, girls football and swimming.

Over 250 young people from Preston participated in trials across the borough in order to be selected to represent the town at the games.

Team managers and assistants were appointed to assist with the trials, training, selection of the final squads and to manage the teams on the day.

The Preston Sea Cadets volunteered their services to assist with the co-ordination of the event and their assistance helped to make the games a great success.
