A BURGLAR already serving a jail sentence was brought before a court to be sentenced for a break-in he committed two and-a-half years ago.
At Bolton Crown Court, Keith Gildart, 22, of Kirkhall Lane, Leigh, was sentenced to 10 months but, because he is already serving a two-year sentence for burglary imposed in March, he won't serve extra time.
Prosecutor Stuart Duke said a daylight burglary in February 1999 took place at a house in Brook Drive, Astley, when two video recorders worth a total of £400, and a £50 personal stereo were taken.
Fingerprints found in the bathroom were eventually traced to Gildart, who was arrested and admitted the offence during his interview. He said he had sold the goods to buy drugs.
Judge Bruce Macmillan said that even if the offence had been taken into account when he was jailed for two years in March, it would not have merited a longer sentence. He jailed him for ten months to be served concurrently to the current sentence.
