TWO men charged with conspiracy to cause an explosion likely to endanger life were remanded in custody by magistrates at Burnley.
Philip Benson, 39, of Every Street, Nelson, and John Baker, 58, of Clark Street, Morecambe, were arrested after it was alleged a pipe bomb was found by police at Benson's home on Tuesday.
Sarah Statham, prosecuting, said the charge was so serious that it was one which could only be dealt with at the Crown Court.
John Batty, defending Baker, and Huw Dixon, defending Benson, said although there was no bail application that did not mean that the accused conceded the case against them.
Both men were remanded in custody to appear at Burnley Crown Court next Friday.
