SUCCESS-HUNGRY Burnley plan to eat their way into promotion contention next season.
Boss Stan Ternent has his sights set firmly on a top-six spot after missing out on the play-offs by just two points last season.
And he is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to mount a promotion challenge.
Diet will form a major part of the Clarets preparation and the manager has called in a team of specialists from the sporting centre of excellence at Lilleshall to brief his troops on their eating habits as part of their pre-season build-up.
He said: "I've had a big meeting with all the players and some specialists from Lilleshall because that is of massive importance in the modern-day game.
"Especially leading up to games and after games, what you eat and when you eat it, whether it's proteins or carbohydrates is important.
"All the lads were there and we went through the full thing. Then we'll put that sort of food on for them."
A pasta meal on Friday lunch-times has been the norm at Turf Moor under Ternent and he will make sure his players are eating the right things to gear them up for games and to restore energy.
He added: "There are a lot of matches to be played and it's not easy to recover when you've got three games a week. "And of course with the television there's going to be a change to the system. Sometimes we'll be playing Thursday nights and Sundays with the new television deal.
"Three of the games have been moved already, including the first game at Sheffield which is a different time to kick off at six o'clock on a Sunday night. All of those things are part and parcel of the modern game and we've got to be aware of it and we've got to be able to cope with it."
Burnley have been allocated 3,695 tickets for their season's opener at Hillsborough on Sunday, August 12. Prices are: adults £16, over-60s £10 and under-16s £10. Priority sales to season-ticket holders and Clarets Foundation members continue to the close of business next Friday. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale on Saturday, July 28.
FORMER Clarets goalkeeper Craig Mawson has been given the chance to revive his career with Halifax Town.
Mawson wasn't offered a new contract after completing last season with the Third Division club.
But Town boss Paul Bracewell has now invited him back to the Shay.
