BLACKBURN boss Graeme Souness is closing in on Liverpool defender Djimi Traore.
Ewood chief Souness is currently in talks with the Merseysiders about a possible £3 million move for the highly-rated young Frenchman.
And Rovers are hoping to get the go-ahead to step up their interest in the next few days as Souness attempts to beef up his defensive rescources.
"We've been talking to Liverpool about Traore but that's all I can say at the moment," said chief executive John Williams today.
Souness has been on the trail of the Reds' reserve team skipper for the last 12 months.
