A NEW traffic warden is to be appointed to cover Padiham.
The town has not had a traffic warden for some months since the last post holder became ill.
But today Pennine Police announced they were now seeking to replace the warden some time next month but in the meantime other local traffic wardens will continue to visit the area to address concerns of local traders who have complained of illegal parking.
County Coun Marcus Johnstone said: "I am very pleased that Padiham will be getting a new traffic warden and I hope the person appointed will quickly become a familiar figure in the local community.
"The appointment is good news for the vast majority of law abiding motorists and for the general public because traffic wardens don't just issue tickets. They also look out for suspicious vehicles and suspicious activity helping to prevent and deter criminal activity."
