RUMOURS linking former Liverpool and Wales striker Dean Saunders with a shock move to Blackpool are gathering momentum.
The veteran goal-getter is known to be on the look-out for a new club, having been released by Bradford at the end of last season.
The Blackpool rumour first cropped up a few weeks ago, but has refused to go away and top sources at the club have not dispelled it.
The general policy of the club is not to sign players over the age of thirty as boss Steve McMahon is keen to keep his team young and hungry but it is believed that McMahon could be prepared to make an exception with Saunders.
The two were Liverpool team mates for a very brief period in 1991 prior to McMahon's move to Manchester City.
If he were willing to drop down to the Second Division, Saunders' experience could prove vital to what remains a relatively young squad.
However, Chairman Karl Oyston is keeping tight lipped regarding Blackpool's transfer targets.
