Clarets continue to be linked with Bournemouth defender Eddie Howe, although suggestions that boss Stan Ternent is poised to weigh in with an £800,000 bid for the central defender may be wide of the mark.
The Clarets wouldn't pay over the odds for the 23-year-old on transfer deadline day in March.
With Gordon Armstrong having proved his credentials in the centre of the defence during the end of season run-in, it's unlikely that Ternent would commit that proportion of his budget to Ian Cox's former defensive partner at Dean Court.
