SCHOOL leaver Luke Marriner proved himself a cut-above the rest when he decided to leave something for them to remember him by.
At a special assembly at Tockholes Primary School, Rock Lane, Luke had his Star Wars style pony tail, which took more than two years to grow, cut off.
And his parting gesture raised £142, which Luke donated to school funds.
The final cut was performed by George Levey, landlord of the Victoria pub, Tockholes, whose name was pulled out of a hat.
Luke, 11, of Old Victoria Stores, Tockholes, grew the pony tail after watching Star Wars - The Phantom Menace.
A strict dress code at his new school - St Wilfrid's CE High School, Blackburn - forbids hair to be longer than collar length.
