WELEPHANT the fire brigade mascot was guest of honour when he paid a surprise visit to a school summer fair.
Pupils' eyes lit up when they saw officers and their fire engine roll into the yard at St Barnabas' Primary School, Knowesley Road, Darwen.
Children were given a tour of the engine. Other attractions included a bouncy castle, board games and a barbecue. Proceeds will go to school funds.
School secretary Susan Sermandez said: " We had an excellent turnout. Most of the activities were inside but the weather stayed fine enough for us to have the outdoor barbecue and bouncy castle."
