A SCHOOL's young entrepreneurs could soon find themselves trading in the US thanks to a unique partnership.
Members of the young enterprise scheme at Fearns High School, Stacksteads, are set to be linked with a school in America following a visit by a delegation from Georgia.
The party, Bette Hickman, executive director of Achievers International, Dr Anne Hancock, Geraldine Welch and Cheryl Stephenson, toured Fearns with headteacher Neil Thornley and gave a presentation to the young enterprise group.
Paul Kennedy, who co-ordinates the young enterprise team, said: "Achievers International is involved in linking schools in America and Britain to develop various curricular activities but in particular the setting up of business and the exporting and importing of goods.
"They learn numerous real world skills as they negotiate the challenges of the global marketplace.
"The pupils can export and import everything from home-made scarves to cosmetics. The Achievers can learn valuable lessons about technology, Internet, e-commerce and video conferencing, also foreign currency exchange, product development, marketing and the all important need to balance the bottom line.
"There could be exchange visits to meet their business counterparts."
