IN your report on the stabbing of two men on the estate at Livesey, Blackburn (LET, July 9), it was stated that this was a rough area.
Yes, we do have problems, but I do not think it is fair to say that ours is a problem estate.
The problem is the area in which the stabbing took place. The council and the housing allocators know of this and until they take their blinkers and dark glasses off and be more selective about who they let have a tenancy, this will continue to be a problem and is becoming more of a problem by the day.
Twin Valley Homes and councillors need to address this now: either sort it out or pull the maisonettes down, as they, in their wisdom, did with the Mill Hill flats.
Please, don't let the maisonettes go down the same route as the flats did. But until then, this state of affairs will continue.
Choose your tenants, or at least try to, and don't let the whole of this estate be tarred with the same brush.
Most people here are hard-working and decent and know right from wrong and, be they tenants or owner-occupiers, they try to take a pride in their properties and their area.
The council and Twin Valley have made the problem, not us. Most of us rub along very well together. Come on, powers-that-be -- sort this problem out, throw away the tar brush and give us back our pride.
