A YOUTH who twice got behind the wheel whilst banned has five months to show a judge he can stay out of trouble.
Burnley Crown Court heard how Mark Butterworth, 22, had seen "the dawn," and realised he would be spending the rest of his life behind bars.
Butterworth, of Harold Avenue, Burnley, had sentence deferred until December 7, by Judge Raymond Bennett.
He admitted two counts of driving whilst disqualified, not having insurance and failing to surrender.
He had been committed for sentence by the Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale Magistrates.
The court was told the defendant had earlier been sent to jail for 18 months, for burglary, and had five months and eight days of that term still outstanding.
Roger Baldwin, defending, said Butterworth was quite skilled in repairing cars, had been mending his brother's vehicle and drove it a short distance.
After his arrest, had come the dawn.
Butterworth had woken up one morning and thought if he carried on driving, he was going to spend the rest of his life in prison.
He had got up and gone round every factory in the area to see if he could get a job.
