RESIDENTS living near to Rosehill Infants' School, Burnley, are being urged to contact the arson hot-line if they see children playing with fire in the area.
Fire crews were called to the school when a piece of plastic was seen on fire next to the school building.
Fire and Rescue Service Station Officer Brian Rees said: "We found two pieces of plastic about the size of video cassettes.
"One had been fired very recently and the other some time earlier. Both were up against the side of the building."
He added: "It is probably children playing with fire.
"No damage has been caused but in my experience these things escalate and one thing leads to another.
"I would appeal for local people to keep a lookout.
"If they have information they can contact the arson hot-line free and in confidence on 0800 555111."
