A MAN who lost four fingers when his hand was run over by a train after he fell asleep on a railway line is to be interviewed by British Transport Police.
David Robert Whitely, 39, of New Lane, Oswaldtwistle, lost four fingers on one hand when he was struck by a train travelling from Colne to Blackpool on Sunday night.
The crew of the train stopped and used a mobile telephone to call for an ambulance. He was taken to Rishton station where he was treated before being moved to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
He was transferred yesterday to Withington Hospital, Manchester for surgery to his hand.
