THE owner of a car repair yard has said he is open for business after a nearby yard was destroyed in a blaze.
The fire, which happened on Sunday, destroyed about 100 cars at Oaks Commercials, an auto storage yard, in Meadow Street, Great Harwood.
Mark Ratcliffe, the owner of Ratcliffe's Auto Salvage next door, said: "I don't want people to get the idea that this fire was at our premises as we are very much open for business as usual.
"I've had to phone my usual customers to reassure them that they won't be affected by this as it wasn't our yard that was involved."
An investigation is being carried out to try to establish the cause of the blaze at the yard, which broke out at about 2.50 on Sunday afternoon.
Two engines from Great Harwood and one from Accrington were called to the scene and fire officers took an hour-and-a-half to bring the blaze, which could be seen almost 10 miles away in Darwen, under control.
