A TEENAGER scarred for life after a glassing in a Blackburn nightspot today pleaded with fellow clubbers to help find the yob who attacked him before he strikes again.
And 18-year-old Shane Brian and his mother Karen today criticised police officers, claiming it took more than 19 hours for them to get details of what happened from him.
Shane, who lives in the Whitebirk area of Blackburn, was hit in the face with a glass at 12.10am on Saturday while on the dance floor of popular nightclub C'est La Vie.
The vicious assault caused a five inch laceration to his face, running under and over his right eye.
The unemployed teenager spent several hours at Blackburn Royal Infirmary, where his wounds required more than 30 stitches. He said: "I am lucky I wasn't blinded. The flesh round my eye is swollen and I can't see very well but the swelling will go down. I have been told to expect a nasty scar and will probably be marked for life.
"I have no idea why I was attacked. The first thing I knew about it was when I was actually hit in the face. Blood went everywhere.
"It has been a good night out until that happened. There hadn't been any trouble.
"I hope the people who know the person who did this come forward with information before someone else is attacked."
He added: "The police took 25 minutes to arrive after they were called but by then the person who did it must have got away. They didn't speak to me until around 8.30pm the next night."
Shane's mother Karen added: "I have spoken to a solicitor who is going to make a formal complaint to the police. I think it is totally unacceptable that it took nearly 20 hours for them to talk to my son.
"Surely in something as serious as this it is important to get the facts as quickly as possible."
Chief Inspector Mick Gledhill, of Blackburn Police, said: "A large number of officers attended the scene of this incident and a criminal investigation has been launched.
"At the time, the priority was for the injured man to get treatment and we have since spoken to him. We would urge anyone with information to come forward. We have not received a complaint about our handling of the incident."
