LEIGH RMI gave every indication that they are again going to be a tough nut to crack in the forthcoming Nationwide Conference season with a goalless draw with Oldham Athletic.
In the first of nine pre-season friendly outings, RMI kept a near full-strength Latics side scoreless and towards the end might have pinched it themselves.
Summer recruits Steve Thompson, Neil Fisher and Paul Robertson all made the debuts; Thompson forming a promising central midfield partnership with Dave Ridings and Fisher playing a full 90 as a central defender. RMI continue their pre-season programme on Saturday when they face Bury at Hilton Park, kick off 3pm.
